Proposed Continuing Education Changes

02-Sep-2011 As you may know, the National Council of Architectural Registration Boards (NCARB) recently adopted a new “model” for continuing education. In an effort to unify the criteria and the cycle for earning continuing education hours, state licensing boards have been asked to give favorable consideration to adoption of the new model.

The members of the Alabama Board of Architects recently voted unanimously to adopt the proposed revisions to our current continuing education requirements. So that you are informed and involved in this effort, here are three documents for your review, consideration and comment:

Current CE Regulation – This document is the current continuing education regulation with strikethroughs indicating text being removed and underlines indicating new language.

Proposed CE Regulation – This document is the new, proposed continuing education chapter.

Comparison Chart – This chart compares existing continuing education requirements with the new, proposed continuing education requirements. It also contains examples of how the new requirements will impact registrants.

IMPORTANT!!! Alabama’s continuing education requirements have not been changed. This information is being forwarded for review and comments only regarding proposed changes. Deadline for comments is September 30, 2011. Please forward comments to Cindy McKim at Cindy.McKim@boa.alabama.gov.
